Wild Rose

The wild rose bushes are in full bloom right now in our area. While they look nice lining creek banks, roadsides, and scattered throughout fields, they are invasive and do also find their way into my flower beds. The thorns on the stems are quite sharp, making it a nasty job to remove the brambles where they are not wanted. But still. . .I find them pretty and liked the look of this isolated flower.

Canon EOS 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/5 for 1/60 sec. ISO 100. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Carolyn: Marvelous capture and superb DOF management. My only suggestion would be to burn down the white OOF bud a bit but this is pretty darn good as is. Really well done.>=))>

A very nice looking bloom Carolyn. I love the detailed and dainty look to the stamen. Very nice.

Carolyn:

Beautiful capture. Love the inclusion of the bud along the lower edge of the flower.

Nice one, Carolyn. Well composed, and I like the dof management with the oof leaves and buds. Gives me a new appreciation of these invasive, thorny bushes.

Carolyn, this looks exactly like one I have growing in my yard, It's called the Charlatan, for me, there a little difficult to photograph, but you did a fantastic job. Excellent work.

Nice work Carolyn being able to find and isolate one perfect flower. I agree about their invasiveness!

Invasion, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. And the gardener! A quietly exquisite blossom. I agree with Bill about the over-bright bud.

Carolyn - Love how the Rose itself is rendered with the sharp stamens. Agree about burning the bud in the BG but the Rose is so perfect, I would ignore it pretty much.

I sure like the inclusion of the buds in this Carolyn. Like Bill mentioned "burning down the white bud" is my only suggestion.

Hi, Carolyn. I love the wild roses, and this white one is certainly Spring fresh! Great find. Agree with Bill's suggestion about the bud on the right-- to burn it down. The other buds around the flower add a feeling of anticipation.
