Today I was driving towards a place where I would try the Tersina viridis. But in my way to the place, I found this short-eared owl, a species I love!

I think I should have tried some with ISO lower than 1600. But I liked the results.

Canon 7D + 300mm f/2.8 + TC 1.4x
f/5.6, 1/1000, ISO 1600

Sometimes everything just falls into place by itself. I like the setting that you found the Owl in, and he sure gave you a nice pose. Well done. :toast:

Jefferson,

Great pose here, ISO gave you the shutter speed that worked, some say that the 7D is not very good at high ISO

Thank you guys!

Ken, ISO 1600 is really not that good. I post-processed the image, reducing the noise as I could.

Nice, Jefferson. Excellent image quality for pushing the 7D to 1600. Great job on the exposure against the bright bg.

I love short-eared owls! When I see these kinds of birds there usually perched on fences or laying in the grass but I haven't seen them perched on this before!
