...to hunt, maybe? This Black-crowned Night Heron might be resting as far as I know! Very exciting to see this bird, have it close and get a decent shot. Seldom do the three come together for me in bird photography! Keep on trying, I will.

Taken at Malheur NWR in the wilds of SE Oregon. Feels like you're at the end of the world out there. Wonderful!
GH-3, Lumix 100-300 @ 300 ( 35 mm equiv. = 600mm ); HH from car window; f 8, 1/400, ISO 400.

Thanks for viewing; appreciate to know what you think.

Very nice Catherine, a lot to like about this shot - love that big red eye and I love how the plume lays across the back and is lit up. Nice over the shoulder look, interesting perch and I like the texture in the water - well done.

NIce reflection of the legs, I like the light on the red eye and the subtle colors of the water are nice as well

Sweet!! Great pose, and you got the plume in perfect position.
Tack-sharp, and the water is excellent.
Way to go!

Excellent, Catherine. Very good composition with the log across the bottom corner and a nice pose from the Heron. Even the direction of the ripples works. Malheur is one of my very favorites. I need to get back there.
