Foxglove

Another non-native wildflower, but only invasive in the waste spaces, so I let myself enjoy it.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f13, 1/400, Av mode with - 1 2/3 stop compensation (the sun decided to poke out just at the wrong time). Even with the compensation, I had to tone down the highlights in ACR. I had it a bit crooked, so I had to apply 7 degrees of ccw rotation then fill in a couple of areas after cropping. Processed in CS6. Final image ~13.3 MP. Taken yesterday at 9:32 am.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Well crafted image! Black b/g contrasts the green and pink/purple. Best of all, the light that makes those ear-hairs come alive and the green veins translucent. Details in the big version is pleasing to see.

Beautiful portrait. The solid bg really makes the blossom stand out. Love the fuzzy 'tongue'.

Dennis: I love the way you were able to isolate this lone bloom and the details and the light and the BG and . . . . oh I like everything about it! Most excellent.>=))>

Wonderful detail and colour, Dennis, and the lighting is superb. If possible I would have liked a touch more room below, but this is truly lovely as is.

This is all about textures and light. Good comp! I have tried these as a whole plant and was never satisfied. Good eye!

A very artistic rendition with rich color that pops off that black background. :toast:
