The Finger

There are very few opportunities throughout the year to make this composition at sunrise or sunset, beacause only with very high tide coefficients you can approach this area. I've tried a b&w version but I don't like much.
Canon 5DII, Canon 17-40 mm f4L, ISO 100, CPL, Manual blending of two exposures. Please see the larger version

Striking composition that is accentuated by the contrasts between rock, water, and clouds, and of course the red-green color contrast that is amplified by the neutral gray backdrop.

Interesting to think about how, while rock appears so much more rigid and unyielding, over long periods of time it is the partnership between the clouds and the water that prevails.

I like the rock formations against the Gray sky. Also the Rocks in the distance giving a sense of perspective and scale. I like the swirling tide and the aqua colors, this gives me the motion and makes it alive for me. I seems that you were staged low for this one, I like shooting low most of the time. It gives others a different look at nature and a different perspective. Very nice composition and great photography! :toast:

This is very nice, Jose! I'm enjoying your perspective here and the conditions in this scene which are seen much better in the larger version. Nice textures and color and I like the mood. The water motion also look very nice!

Very nice image Jose. The colors are handled very well. The movement of the clouds and the water seem to mirror each other.

What an amazing monolith, well presented. The clouds frame and focus my eye on it beautifully.

Jose, the colorful manual blending is excellent here. Your approach to this site during the right time of the season has paid off very nicely. These are some fabulous rock structures. The stormy sky is a real plus once again for these very fine seascapes you've been posting over time.
