Folks,

Its been a while since I posted or commented. Went out today, as its been raining quite heavy for the past few days and found these yellow flowers on the grass. Im still thinking if the comp works or not.

Any idea on the ID. There is a bunch of them all flowering together after the rains.

The comp definitely works for me, and this is why, I think. First of all simplicity; that single, little flower is the subject, the brightest area, and when it is examined, it seems to be glowing from within as if it had a little light bulb inside the petals. That alone works.

Then one is left with the rest, and that is pretty much a very interesting abstract in its own right. It's as if one were viewing this painting on a museum wall absent the focused flower, and someone said, "what is that?", and then someone held the flower up in front of it.

There are some wonderful color contrasts in this; red-green, yellow and one can even imagine blue. And the formal contrasts are nice too; the lines of the grass blades (balanced) versus the circles of yellow representing unseen flowers.

So, to answer your question; it definitely works for me; bigtime.

I feel it would look better in portrait, do like the softness of the setting tho.
