Baby's First Oyster

I think this is the male Oystercatcher, as the female was still on one unhatched egg. He gave the mussel/clam/oyster (not sure what!) to the baby, who then dropped it in the stones. It never did eat it that I saw. From Forsythe NWR, early am, drizzly day.

50d, 500mm w/1.4, ISO 800, F8, 1/160 LARGER version provided and Thank You for your comments/critiques.

Hi Sharon, nice detail in the plumage and having the chick is an added bonus for the 'cute' factor. Would have preferred a little more body turn to camera rather than the bird walking away, but the head angle does help. Just watch the slight bit of blue creeping through in the whites & FG pebbles, easily fixed. Difficult with the 50D, but watch your SS.

Again for you too, just check your setting when you convert to sRGB as the image doesn't quite carry the sRGB profile and like a few others this image does look a tad saturated when viewed on screen.

You took advantage of again being at the right place at the right time. This photo says so much and having the adult and chick so well captured is super. Very well done!

A super comp Sharon. Nice head turn on the adult and a really nice look at the new addition. You did well with the IQ for the 50D at ISO 800

I like the low perspective and having a young one in the image always adds something special, way to go.
