From a local cattail pond.

D7000, sigma 150-500 @ 500mm,
1/1250,f6.3, ISO 320
HH, 80% of full frame

I tried various crops but always end up liking the ones with more of the BG reeds, so ended up with this landscape version with a little off the top and right side to decenter.

LR4, settings usual stuff except I did +10 vibrance after using "camera neutral" profile instead of "adobe standard", which I usually use at start.

All C&C welcome, and the larger version shows it off better.
Thanks.

Looks very nice and quite natural. I too like the setting and the composition.

Jeff,

Not the easiest background to make the bird pop from, but this works very well. I might consider a tad of toning down the whites on the lower part of the perch.

Amazing how these BB maneuver so well throughout this type of reed habitat! Nice capture and pose. Sharon

Thanks for the comments everyone. Ken, I agree on the perch, does seem a bit glaring, especially now that you mention it and my eye keeps going there
