Another image from my white pocket trip. Didn't think much of this one until recently, but now it is becoming one of my favorites from the trip. I added a bunch of new photos to my website from the trek (this one isn't on there yet), but have a look and let me know what you think. As always, comments and critiques appreciated. Large version included.

Wonderful image Peter. Great sky and detail in the image and I like the different composition. Very nice.

Sick sky! Almost looks like reflected light of the sandstone in the cloud bases. Maybe tone down the brightest portion of the sky at the top of the frame, but very minor. Such interesting sandstone formation out there.

That's very dramatic Peter. I like the contrast between the red and white rock. The sky is great. The red rock might seem a little overpowering to me in this but that may be your point?

Peter, overall I think this is a very fine image. I really like the color both in the sandstone and in the sky and I think your processing looks very nice.

The one nit that I have is that there is really no middle-ground to connect the red sandstone in the foreground to the background formation. Perhaps a slightly higher perspective would have made for a stronger composition (I realize you were trying to get a close perspective of the foreground sandstone, but I still think it would be better with a connection between the foreground and background).

I've really enjoyed seeing your images from this trip and it looks like it was very productive. :toast:

Love the pattern of the foreground rocks and your composition with the formation in the back centered. Beautiful soft light. A gorgeous image in my opinion.

Thank you everyone! I actually toned down the reds in the foreground rock as they were more burgundy in the RAW file. I also did the same with the sky, though the sun was rising just out of frame to the right so naturally it would be a bit brighter up there.

Nice one for sure. I might try a portrait crop.

Great color and texture. The foreground might be a tad overwhelming for my taste, it takes away from the focal point, which is the rock in the middle.

Beautiful scene and light. If it were mine, I might experiment with burning down the foreground rock a bit. Seems a bit bright to my eye, given the light throughout. Works as presented though.

Really nice light, and sky! I love the softer approach here too. It's very dramatic, without being dramatic, if you know what I mean?

Great picture, nice light and good compostion. I have been there many, many years ago in the analogue era and I know how wonderful it is overthere. Well done.

Pretty weird formation I've always thought. The sky really enhances that alien mood. Cool shot.

Peter, I like how you processed the clouds per your style. The two blips of orange sky on the left edge are catchy though. One suggestion might be to brighten the white brainrock atop and left side of the candy peak.

Nice shot Peter. I like the composition a lot and love the sky. My only nit (minor) is that I wish the FG red rock area (non-vignetted area) was slightly brighter and perhaps increased in contrast.

Real pretty, Peter! I really like the sky--kind of wish there was a bit more sky and a bit less fg--but this is a winner overall. :toast:
