Cloaked

Bloodroot is a bright, showy woodland flower during the day, but it closes up shop when the Sun goes down. In addition, the flower stalk usually grow so it is nestled in the center of the leaf, so it is partially hidden at night. I liked lines and textures of this more subtle "pose" that I found just as the Sun was setting. This was near the top of a ridge, in deep shade, but the Sun was just high enough for me to reach up above my tripod and reflect some of the sunset back into the shadow where this was hiding. (I wonder if this "behavior" helps the flowers escape browsing by nocturnal "florivores" as well as shielding the pistils and stamens from frost?)
