Tree Climbing Lion

Contrary to popular belief Lions climb trees in many areas of Africa, I have seen this behaviour in quite a few places. Quite why they do it is open to question?

This young male has sound himself a comfortable place in a very large Fig tree in Ishasha, Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda, with several less visible others.

A beautiful tranquil image. Who's think he's ferocious? I like the little glimpses of sunlight touching his neck and the top of his head.

Neat shot Ken, I like the way you utilized the tree in the vertical format. He looks so laid back, cool cat! It looks like you may have tried to tone down the upper left corner allready, but still a minor distraction.
