Little Painted Desert

This location just north of Winslow, Arizona has been on my radar for a few years. Finally made it there yesterday for an evening and morning shoot. The compositions seemed endless, especially telephoto, and walking down into the Chinle clay formations from the ridge above seemed very inviting.

Nikon D90, Nikon 300mm f/4 @ f/8, ISO 200.

Thanks in advance for your critique and suggestions. A larger version is provided.

The warm light and strong zig-zag in the formation work very well.

Really like how you have isolated this wonderful formation, and that light is the best. Pano format works well too. Nicely done.

The formation, the color, the light, the textures, all add very nicely to this pano slice, Doug. Nice to see a bit of experimentation with the telephoto landscape shots and or pano cuts such as seen here.

Thank you for your feedback. The area below the ridge has a lot of white and I felt it contested with the curving ridgeline, hence the pano crop to make it about the lit ridge. There are a few white spots to rid in the LRC still.
