Making a photo of the new crescent moon. This was from the evening of May 10th about 45 minutes after sunset. It is always such a thrill looking for, finding and then photographing that small sliver of light.

Nikon D2x, Nikon 400mm f/5.6, at f5.6 anf 1 sec at ISO 100.

Thanks for looking. More on this moon on the blog.

P.S. The white spot is Venus.

Youssef, these are all the same, yet, very unique and different each time. Another nice capture of this crescent moon event.

gorgeous, shimmering light from the moon. even without venus it's a great shot in the line of crescent moon shots you have. with venus it's amazing.

Stan,

It was a fairly young moon, only 24.75 hours old past conjunction as it is depicted in the photo. I first was it about 25 minutes earlier. The photo at that time was not all that interesting though. Here is the first photo.

This is a very interesting abstract of nature. The colors and bands of color are really nice and the moon and star really add interest. Great image.
