This was taken last week at Gulf Shores National Park in the FL panhandle. Not a lot of birds found, but this warbler is a lifer for me. I spent about 15 minutes with it while it worked the tree for insects. This is one of the few unobstructed views I was able to capture.

50D, 500mm w/1.4, Iso 200, F6.3, 1/640th

LARGER version also posed. Thank you for your comments/critiques! Sharon

A difficult bird to photograph, constantly moving in upper cover. A good lifer. I suspect the light was quite harsh and very contrasty which made exposure tricky. Well done nonetheless and congrats on the new lifer. :toast:

Good work getting this handsome fellow in the open; even on breeding territory they are pretty skulky. I agree with Claude that the light is a bit harsh but very nicely exposed under difficult conditions. And congratulations on the lifer.

Congrats on the lifer Sharon. Finding and photographing a lifer seems to be the common theme this week. For me, all Warblers are hard to capture just because of how fast and bouncy they are. So getting one out in the open at all is nice work. Obviously, I wish he looked your way, but sometimes it seems our subjects just won't cooperate.

Congrats Sharon. The background is a bit distracting but a great capture none the less. Focus seems to be a bit sharper on the shoulder/wing than on the head, but if he was twitching all the time that is not surprising.
