Wow, I almost missed this WC. I shoot lots of stuff on the water's edge, because it's such a rich environment. But instead of re-posting something that was already on NPN, I decided to go with something from way back in 2005 that's kind of different. Instead of the usual lakes and mountain streams I frequent, this one reminds me that I need to spend more time in the swampy places.

This is a small green frog that jumped into the swamp and decided it was safer to pop up through a dense mat of algae to take a look around.

Great shot Wayne, it looks like he's melded with the algae. Perfect focus and the shallow DOF enhances the image.

Very cool, I think a good alternate title with some Syfi flare would be 'Swamp Thing'
Excellent details, POV, and use of fill..
Really like how this little froggy has run 'amuck', very nice :toast:

What a great and unique shot! I really like the way the frog seems to be coming up out of the goop and taking form as he arises. . .very SciFi feel as Howard mentioned. Good DOF choice to get his eyes in focus but the goop gradually fading in focus. Glad you didn't miss getting in on this challenge, Wayne.

Ahhhh, that wonderful catch light in the creature's eyes. Nice shot Wayne. Focus is great where it needs to be.

Love this one! Reminds me of a shot of a bull frog I had taken up in the Adirondacks, while paddling one year. Nice and sharp; fills the frame and shows some habitat too. Looks like a slow shutter speed too because I can see the water slowly running off him. Thanks for sharing!

The eyes have it. You have chosen an excellent angle for showing both eyes. It looks like you could kiss him on the nose. You must have been pretty close. You have some harsh reflections. Did you flash this one?

This one looks like it's having trouble escaping the "muck"....or may I should say something about "eye popping". Perfect dof and nice tight view on the frog.

Very cool shot Wayne. Love how it's "just" the eyes... that's all we need. DOF very effective
