Some sort of pitcher plant flower I guess. Making an image of something spherical is about compromising. This is my first attempt at this flower I found today. Back Light, abstract feel and the deadly well into which the insect would go...Will get back to this flower for a better picture and better dof ..

I agree with Eirini Pajak. I think that the softness around the perimeter is useful in conveying geometric information in this instance. I am in awe of the dynamic range in this image and how it is balanced and juxtaposed. And, importantly, how that is overlayed with the color contrasts. Ultimately, I think, what really is essential to this is the negative space in the upper right corner.

In a word: Stunning

Balan: A tough flower to compose and expose. We have some of these in our garden and I have struggled mightily with the dynamic range and the forms. I think you did well here. >=))>

Beautiful image, Balan! I love how my eye is drawn to the depth of that flower. The light is falling nicely through. :toast:

Nice concept, Balan! What an intriguing flower! Will look forward to seeing more of this flower; I love the pattern of the red on the petals, so will be great to see it in focus. Were I an insect, I would absolutely have to explore the light within the flower center. Deadly beauty works in the flower's favor, and woe to the adventurer in this case!
