Barb wire fence and grasses, backlit near sunset. The simplicity of this image is what keeps me coming back to the image. 7D, ISO 400, 1/250, f/11, 300mm, full frame. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

I love this, Rob; when I saw the thumbnail, I though of the word I then saw in your title for it.
The wire is at the upper third horizontal, similar in form but less enduring than the grasses; three basically; in the right horizontal third all paying homage to each other and to the negative space. I love the implied sunset monochrome background.
A minor, very minor nit is that the wire is not perfectly horizontal nor decidely tilted; it's sort of in between. This could be an artistic intent, and a valid one; creating a bit of conceptual dissonance within the viewer to contrast with the otherwise simple aspect.
But if it is not the intent, then I think the simplicity can be accentuated by a perspective crop that will make the horizontal line of the wire look more parallel with the upper edge of the frame.
Postscript: I checked this with my wife, and she said this could be an obstacle illusion due to the increasing thickness of the wire. But regardless, it's the initial impression that counts, not the exact measurements.

Rob,
Works for me. Love the color, contrast between thickness of lines of fence & foliage, and slight gradation darkening of orange at bottom.

Thanks for the comments. John, I can see your point about the tilt, or lack there of :).
