"Ponderosa Glow"

"Ponderosa Glow". This is my favorite ponderosa tree in the world! I live on the east side of Oregon's Cascade range and Ponderosas are everywhere, so I've seen a lot of them. I wanted to capture the grandeur of this stately old Ponderosa and I think I was mostly successful. This is a huge specimen, one of the biggest I've ever seen and I didn't quite convey that with my capture but as I tried to tuck my 4x5 closer to the trunk of this tree, I started to lose depth of field, so I was forced to compromise a little bit. The glow at the top of the tree was something of an after thought but in my opinion it really helps the image.

Beautiful tree and nice capture Mike. I like the composition also. On my monitor the glow at the top seems very saturated but it could be my monitor. Very nice.

Nice composition and I think the your composition works well. I thinks the reds and yellows a tad over the top but I love the concept.

Mike, this tree has an amazing amount of limbs poking out of it. Sure looks pretty healthy too from the foliage & bark. I like the idea here and the only thing I might work on a bit is the color saturation as already stated. No doubt one of the hardest things to keep in line when posting images. It just seems like their either a bit dull and need a boost or they get pushed slightly too hard and need a turn down. Regardless, you've got the composition already just needs some post processing a bit more.

Each limb seems to have a story. Love it.
