Wild Grizz Khutzeymateen

Wild Grizzly ( Ursus arctos horribilis ) of the Khutzeymateen.
Dripping Wet after emerging from the estuary waters. Taken @ High Noon, Very Overcast skies. The RIM Lighting isolates the Bear from the background. An annoying light coloured spruce in the BG. could be eliminated, but not into cloning etc... This Large Male with the wetted down look is displaying his very powerful muscles! It is Bear Breeding season in the Khutzeymateen (Late May in 2012) and is really focused on a female. His grunting and snorting was very evident, giving him even more Hair Standing prescence!

TECHS: Nikon D700/ 200-400mm VR F4 lens/ Hand Held from Zodiac boat/ 1/400 Speed / @ f7.1/ ISO 320/ -.67 Meter Compensation/ Small crop off bottom.

Your Constructive Critique & comments... Very much appreciated.

Bill

A great image, Bill! You have captured such a range of action, both the past with the dripping water and into the future with the intention indicated by stance, and forward gaze. Anyway for me a wonderful shot. Chet :toast:

That is a fine stance, love the water pouring off his wet coat. The dof of f7.1 is excellent, I like having a sense of tree species and habitat without the background details being overwhelming. Did you mean to say "small crop off the bottom", the proportions of the photo as presented seems to have been cropped to be more square than pano? Regardless, a photo worthy of being admired on a wall. :toast:

Wow great action shot Bill, although we sense that bears have a muscular build its often hidden by their thick fur, but this shot captures that beautifully. Well done.

I like the composition and your capturing the water dripping off that strong body for a sense of action.

Hello Chet , Gary, Christina, Rick, Don,

Thanks everyone for your Feedback. The Emerging Scene from the water was anticipated & I was hoping for this positioing, was concerned He would walk away & show me his Butt. The Crop has some bottom removed & small amount on right side. The f7.1 was used to increase the DOF because I was having some difficulty picking up the Darker coloured bear with lighter background, Yes, Very Powerful Bear showing those Well Defined Muscles !! An Exciting time & Adventure :)

Patient , Knowledgable , Bear-Guides was Much Appreciated.. Thanks Brad & Tom.

Very Enjoyable to Share my experience... Thanks Everyone.

Bill

Another masterpiece, Bill! Just love the water streaming off his body, and especially his chin. The wet fur clings to his body revealing his rippling muscles. :toast:

Bill, I love the dripping water and the fact that the wet fur shows of the muscular body of this impressive specimen well, something their dry furry coat normally hides and giving them a chubby appearance. In the thumbnail I already noticed that distracting tree in the BG, what a pity it had to be just there! If it would have been to the right of the bear it would not have been any issue probably. Cool image nonetheless  .

Hello Ajit & Jagdeep

The Power & Muscles Not seen very often due to their thick fur coats. Was fortunate to get several Images at this time with different poses and water streaming.

Hello Vincent
Have several others to choose from with a Slight difference in BG>

Really Appreciate the Constructive Feedback. !!
