Drying Their Wings

These 2 butterflies had just emerged from their chrysalis. I placed them on a penta that was blooming, so they could spread and dry their wings. Watching them emerge was fascinating. I will find a good emerging photo and post it soon.
I posterized this and put it in photo art, because the butterflies were not tack sharp. Plus, the posterization gives the scene more texture and interest.

Gorgeous composition and very dramatic lighting. Well placed in Photo Art. The slight softness of the butterflies contrast nicely with the razor sharpness of the leaves, both in form and color. I also like the repitition and the diagonal leading from lower left to upper right.

The posterizing provides a good amount of 'drama' to the scene, along with the added texture you speak of.
I like the comp and the way both b-flies stand out here.
Well done!:wavey:

Lucy: This is a 10+ in my book. Really striking result. Glad you got to witness the emergence; a very cool experience. We used to raise monarchs and I never tired of seeing them emerge, inflate their wings and fly off.

Beautiful, Lucy. Your treatment really brings out the colors and textures of the leaves and butterflies.

Lucy,

Lots of wonderful color "pop" in this. I like how the contrast has helped bring the butterflies to the forefront. The predominant colors work very well together.

Very nice! I like the light and the two butterfly's. To me the composition is well balanced. My eye goes from the lower butterfly to the top butterfly and back down. The green leaves help compliment the oranges of the Monarch's.
