The Dying of the Light

The centre of a fading tulip about to lose its petals. I've added a grunge layer with some masking from Perfect Effects 4. The title is taken from the poem by Dylan Thomas : Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night

Canon 400D, 100mm Macro, 1/6 sec @ f13, window light.

I'm unsure of what the effect you used, did to your image but think this is beautiful. The texture, color and detail is exceptional. I have a thought that the gap between the petals at the right seems somehow unnatural.

Very neat, Ian. I really like the foreground tulip and the angle you used on it and the bg works very well with it.

I really like this a lot....but, I think the black splotch on the upper rt side is a distraction. Maybe if all the brown area were burned out, this would match the Lower left side.. :wavey:

Hi Ian, your original picture is a fine flora macro image with excellent detail and vivid color. For me, the invasion of the darkness came from the corners. The fading but still beautiful tulip raged against the dying of the light.
