I have no idea what to call this. This is ice patterns on South Boulder Creek.

This really works well. Very nicely seen. The white ice is a nice transition between the darker water and the rocks which are spread nicely from the front to the back.

Very nice, Dan. Looks like some kind of cascade of stepping stones. The ice encapsulated stones have added a neat pattern to the scene.

Makes me think of Hawaii with the formation of the rock Islands, well during the ice age I am sure. Either way, love the ice patterns!

This is a cool scene, Dan. I like the amoeba like shapes formed by the ice. I also like how you have composed the rocks and the lines in the ice to lead my eye throughout the scene. One minor nit is that I would like to see either all of the rocks along the top of the frame or see them completely cropped out. That's a pretty minor nit, though. NIcely done!!

Well seen and captured Dan. Have seen long exposure images of water flow/falls, but this one in frozen state is unique. Beautifully done

Aw, come on Dan! I understand, though. I'm not sure what you could call it, either. I do like it, though. It's kind of mesmerizing, looking those patterns and knowing it's ice. I think the reflections and play of light on the ice are what make it. Nice one.

Stepping stones, hopscotch, creative ice patterns, ice abstract. Regardless what you call it, the image has a graceful flow and a sense of depth with the surrounding darker water and shadows. Winner for sure.

I like the icy details in the larger view Dan. Stepping Stones came to mind when I first view this...... Although they probably would be very slippery.

Dan, this photograph caught my eye with its nice transition of darks to lights - or vic versa. The patters of the stone and ice lead my in and around the image in a very pleasing way.

Dan, This is really interesting to look at and I like it a lot. Some very neat shapes and contrast in this scene. I also like the colors and reflections which add a lot of interest. I agree with Brian about a slight crop of the top just to the bottom edge of the rocks but still this is a wonderful image to me. :toast:

I think you already named it in your description above. Either "Ice Patterns" or "Ice Patterns on South Boulder Creek."
Very well depicted. It reminds me of some kind of a living form moving left. Or maybe even an alien aircraft.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice, Dan. The ice patterns do a wonderful job of drawing the viewer into the scene, Great eye to spot this beauty. :toast:

Its really neat how you captured the frozen swirls around the rocks. I am very curious about what makes that dark red reflection in the water! I know what you mean about giving stuff titles...."No Idea" was a pretty interesting one though

Genny, when saving the file, I named it mezmerized, but when I was posting it, I wasn't sure if the title worked.

Elrini, red hints are reflections of mountains illuminated by the rising sun.

Thanks everyone for all you comments.

Nice interplay of water , rocks and ice. I most appreciated framing lines created by the ice, all around warmer rocks.
