Running on Air

This Crane just didn't seem to figure out it was already airborne. I got quite a series of this take-off sequence and I'm thinking of picking three of them to create a triptych. Has anyone tried that for this kind of situation? If so, was it effective?

1DIV, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, Black Widow on RRS legs. f5.6, 1/2500, iso 640, manual exposure. Cropped to 11.9 MP. Minor adjustments in ACR and CS5. Taken at the north crane pool at Bosque del Apache at 8:20 am on January 19th.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Excellent - vey fine detail, great pose, and the terrific Bosque BG.
I'm thinking of trying a triptych too - we'll see if it works!

This is my favorite image you've posted so far from your Bosque trip Dennis. Really nice details, light, natural colors and action. Really good blend of everything done well. Congrats! Dennis, I stitched three successive action shots together of a diving Goldeneye recently. I posted it in the art gallery because I wasn't sure if by doing that, Avian was the right place for it. It isn't a true Triptych, because I merged the shots together in one pano. But, check it out if you like. Maybe it will give you some more thought on doing one.

Excellent shot. I really like the "running" pose and the detail, sharpness and BG are great. :toast:

The one Kurt Bowman posted looked very nice. I would go for it if I were you. I might even consider a quadtych, quintych or even a sextych or whatever it would be called if you have enough shots.

Wonderful species and shot. If it were mine I would have made it a little darker, but other than that a real treat to watch ! Looking forward to see the results of your little experiment :wavey: , Hans

What a fun image, I can't stop looking at it. The tech details are outstanding and the crane position with that BG is quite stunning.

Wonderful take-off shot, Dennis. Sweet light, great timing and fascinating behavior. The implied motion is outstanding.

Well done Dennis. I love the lighting, detail and action in this image and it IMO, is the absolute best posted so far. The larger version is really nice, congrats!

Wonderful timing and amusing flight pose with the feet position. I might tone down some of the highlights on the crane but an excellent shot all the way around. Way to go.
