We found these snipes at about 12,000 feet up in the Andes. I was amazed that the vegetation was so very lush and soft.
Nikon D800, 300 mm lens, f4.5, 1/1000.
Thanks for looking and critiques appreciated.

May, a very interesting subject. I love the scalloping on the plumage and the unusual setting. I might play with darkening the image slightly to see how it looks.

Beautiful image May, you are posting some gorgeous images I assume from your trip. The low POV and BG coupled with this beautiful bird are excellent. I love the markings on individual feathers.... great bird!

Superb habitat! We found ours a year ago at 4,500 metres, but the fog rolled in just as we did. I'd also darken this a little, but a great image nonetheless.

Wow, what a nice capture. The bird with his unique feather pattern is so interesting and the surrounding habitat is just delightful. Great angle. Wonderful work!! I would darken the image slightly overall as well.

Darkening would help. The bird has lovely plumage. Reminds me a bit of a Willow Ptarmigan. Good low angle, detail and environment!

Thanks for your input into this image. I agree it is a bit bright, I have reduced the highlights and the exposure.

What interesting patterns on the bird. Looks like fine filigreed work. Very pleasing colors throughout, also.
