R.L. this is a totally new image for me. Almost worth a trip to the coast to look for these magnificent color patterns. Thanks you for a large view. Exquisite.

Great interest with all the different colors and bubbly patterns Robert, I like it.
Makes one wonder what actually causes the 'refraction' or color swirls in each bubble..
Oily residue from man?
Well worth the crawl for sure! :toast:

Love all these colors! Did you photoshop the individual bubbles to reflect different hues? What causes the colors on the bubbles?

Great question, Howard. I am sure the physics behind this are interesting, but beyond my ken. Perhaps googling would come up with something. All bubbles that I know about have this property. These are the only bubbles that I have tried to photograph. This foam is produced by breaking surf from diatom skeletons, as I understand it.

Hey Rebecca, you guys are keeping me busy. No photoshop was involved. My recipe using Lightroom: Bring down the exposure a little. Contrast = 50. Clarity = +15. Vibrance = +5. Voila.

This is certainly different and colorful, Robert. Very cool. I like the abstract look and, of course, the colors. Fascinating that each bubble has a different color. I am wondering about a closer comp which contains only the sharply focused colorful bubbles. Excellent just as is, however.

The thin film colors are terrific, Robert. What a great shot. The colors are due to the presence of a surfactant or an oily coating but there are lots of natural surfactants and oils as it sounds like this probably is. In thin films, the color is determined by the thickness of the film and the angle of view, but there is such a variety of colors here that I'm sure there must be additional factors.

Beautiful bubbles! I think I would like a little closer crop so that the frame would only be filled with these delightful bubbles!
