Captured this in the Naval Live Oaks sections of Gulf Islands National Seashore right now the road from where I live in Gulf Breeze, FL. Thisarea was part of a prescribed burn the week before but, somehow this little area escaped the flames. I'm glad it did.

Please view the LARGE version for greater detail.

D2x w/ 70-200 @ 98mm
1/4 @ f/16 - MLU and remote release
100 ISO
No Filters (that I remember)
Tripod
Capture One 6, CS4

Your thoughts, suggestions, and comments are always greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Bill, what a find, and through it all with the controlled burn this survived nicely. Colors are wonderful here and the larger version provides some very impressive detail too. The approach to the diagonal placement of the larger branch in the frame is excellent.

Wow, not at all what I expected... I mean I expected to see pretty flowers but not glowing, radiance like this. Very pretty.

Really nice, Bill. The focus of light in the center works very nicely here . . . as does everything else in the the mage.

Bill, I enjoy the freshness of the bloom, and the subtle lighting accentuates it nicely to me. The diagonals log adds a proper structure for me.

Well, this is just lovely, Bill! Wonderful soft light and color. I could see slight crop in from the left as the darker ulc pulls very slightly, but it still works as is. :toast:

Beautiful shot Bill! Really like the detail and balance here. Theres a few spots towards the center bottom that look slightly blurry--not sure why could be an illusion...anyhow, two thumbs up! :toast:

Very lovely. With great light. Maybe just slightly deeper shadows which is more evident in the upper left 1/3 and the bg brush. Great stuff

Love the gentle magentas/purples and how they're scattered nicely throughout the frame.

Bill,

What a lovely, beautiful intimate scene you've captured here. Looks to me like a little treatment along the edges? Not quite sure if it's natural or processed this way, but there's a very nice and effective vignette going on here which are making the flowers stand out beautifully in the nice light in the central part of the image. Beautiful little scene.

What a beautiful surprise Bill. The way the vignette brings out the glowing flowers was well executed. A lovely little study.

What a wonderful shot. I like everything you've captured here. I thought the larger version would pop more than it does. There seems to be some softness to most of the flowers that I find surprising. Then again it might be my monitor and these dang blasted bifocals.
