A River Runs Through It

It was one of those days when I just about gave up on getting any meaningful image. Rain, wind, heavy overcast, it really was not looking promising. I hung around the beach (Oswald Beach - Oregon) hoping I might be able to come away with a half way decent B&W. Right about sunset the weather miraculously started to change (I love it when that happens). I found this spot next to Short Sand Creek in just the nick of time.

This is a blend of 3 images for dynamic range.

All feedback is welcome.

Tech: Cannon 5DMKII, 16mm, F8, ISO 100.

I like the drama here and the rock is a nice foreground anchor - I would consider cropping off a nice slice from the bottom maybe where that bit of exposed sand juts out toward the rock. Also, you can probably bring a touch more color into this image.

Beautiful composition and light. Love the story that goes with the blue opening in the sky.

Nice combo of light and elements. The sky is very appealing. Non-sky feels a bit disorganized and lacking focus. Wondering if being closer to the rock might have created stronger foreground interest.

What Luke and Tony said.

The sky is definitely great, but the foreground feels a bit muddy and unbalanced. Cropping off a slice from the bottom will also eliminate the rock in the lrc.

Very dramatic image. Great light and sky. For me the sky is the focus of the image and I might be very tempted to crop the bottom of the image up close to the rock to put more focus on the sky.

Nice! I agree about the fg--maybe 50/50 would be better--i also would try getting some shadow detail; from the lhs, otherwise a terrific scene and atmosphere!
