This Chukar is also from my recent Utah trip, taken on Antelope Island with Ron and Mia. I appreciate your critiques and comments. Please view the larger version if possible.

Crop to 82% of original (14.7 of 18MP), f/8, 1/1000, ISO 400

Canon 7D, 500mm + 1.4x TC, foam noodle on the window of the pickup truck that has probably had more amazing shots taken from it than any other in the world (not claiming this to be among them!)

Large version is great, Brian. Your birding with Ron and Mia has really paid off. We used to have some of these guys around here, but I haven't seen any of them in over two years. Well done.

Crisp snow and a cold looking bird - good colors on the bird as well. I'm sure it's easy making images with Ron and Mia at the wheel!

This is a beauty Brian. This is a species on my most wanted list. Very nice job on the exposure, especially the snow. Sounds like you were in good company...

Sweet image, Brian. Excellent job on the snow and I like the bg. Beautiful job on the Chukar itself. Great eye contact and plumage detail.

Brian, that was one profitable trip to Utah!

Fantastic image of a Chukar...just gorgeous light and exquisite detail. I also really like the colour palette here and the incredible texture to the snow.

You clearly and absolutely nailed this one!

A bird I've never seen, but this one looks like a fine specimen of its line. Nice work, Brian. Btw, what are the foam noodles you use? Do you mean just a piece of foam?

Wayne, there's a great description of these noodles and how to make them at Mia's blog.

Luke, while I definitely had some nice opportunities, I also wouldn't say it was easy! It was a whole new game for me learning how to shoot from a vehicle--something I've done very little of and felt pretty awkward with. Ron and Mia, on the other hand, make it look easy from all the work they have put in, but there is a lot of work behind every image.

Brian you did an amazing job here preserving the detail of the snow! The creamy BG and contrast of the bird's colors make for a beautiful photograph.
