Took this photo of a Brown Creeper along the river behind my house in Timberville Virginia while waiting to see if the Eagles would show up today. It may not be an exciting bird but part of nature all the same. It is a heavy crop..cropped away about 80% of image for this comp.
C&C welcome

Canon 7D, 100-400L @ 365mm, 1/400sec, f/8, iso320, AP, partial metering, tripod used, cropped, small contrast adjustment in CS6

Good capture. Smaller birds are always harder. The heavy crop cost you some detail, especially noticeable in the bird's back. If it were mine, I might selectively tone down the background. The bark helps with the overall image.

Nice shot of this elusive bird - I'm afraid the heavy crop shows, though, as it's pretty soft.

I like the pose and the moss on the tree, but to me (besides the large crop) it looks like your focal point was on the tree.

Thanks for the comments, I forgot my camera was set to AI Servo, so yes I think it did focus on the tree, I was waiting for the eagles to show, which they did not today, but when this bird landed and at the distance it was I turned and snapped off a couple of shots, oh well you win some and loose some....this can be a teaching point for other!! :frown:

Nice composition and good exposure, Dave. I'm not sure if it's the large crop or if the focus was on the perch rather than the bird, but the bird looks just a bit soft to my eye.

Mst have been difficult for autofocus on the bird with all that textered bark. Still an interesting image. Little guy's got some talons there.

A very difficult bird to photograph,I've only got one decent shot after many years of trying. Most of my images where heavy crops to and the quality does suffer. Good attempt though. Graham
