I Love You Mom

Early in the morning yesterday, I came upon this doe and her fawn. I have seen this pair quite regularly in this area. I have been impressed by the amount of attention the doe gives to her fawn. They are always together and often exhibit mutual grooming. I see this regularly with many of the deer (although not the adult bucks). I'm would guess that attention to your off spring results in a greater survival rate for the youngster. That would be an interesting study if someone could do that. Nevertheless, I thought this image provided a nice sense of peace and love. Something we all can relate to. I noticed that there may be something wrong with the doe's left eye. Hard to tell at this angle and my other shots don't help either. I will try to check it out next visit. No changes to the photo except to resize and sharpen. Comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.

Your framing is as good as possible, but the bright bits of sunlight behind them pull my eye away from the interaction.

Peter, the very busy habitat and patchy lighting are not ideal. yet, the cute poses of your main subjects and the quality of that golden light do give this an appeal. If only the heads of your main subjects were in that beautiful light...

Peter, another interesting behavior image, nicely done. I do think you could crop abit more off of the top to reduce some of the busy BG. The golden bits of light are but do take away from the main subjects, IMHO. It does look in the larger image that the left eye is weeping or draining. Hard to tell for sure. Thanks for sharing.
