Frond shadows

These are the fertile fronds of an Ostrich fern. These tough brown fronds last through the winter even though the rest of the fern dies back. I liked the shadows cast by the fronds in the snow.

Canon Rebel T1i. 154mm at F/7.1 for 1/160 sec. ISO 100. Handheld, natural lighting.

This one just glows and sparkles. These are the bluest and prettiest shadows you are ever likely to see. Excellent.

Perfect! The light on the fronds is beautiful. And the shadow is just right--not overdone, not too understated either.

The lighting is great. It sets the fronds glowing nicely and casts those long diagonal shadows.

Very nice comp. Great pop of color against the snow, sharp, well-placed subject, and the lovely blue shadows emanating diagonally from the vertical ferns.

Excellent light to show off the fern as well as the shadows and snow. I was thinking of posting a shot of the same subject that I took from the other direction (looking into the light) but this is much better. I think the OOF background in this shot enhances the sense of depth, too.

Hi Carolyn :wavey: A very nice snow scene !! I also had a winter scene similar to offer, but upon seening so many snow scenes, i decided on something different, hope you enjoy it :smile:
