Sunflowers

With all of our dreary weather lately, I thought it was time for another "sunny" sunflower photo. This is another image from my sunflower field outing this past summer. The bees are a constant presence on these flowers. I had previously posted other images from this outing in the flora and macro galleries.

Canon Rebel T1i. 180mm macro lens. F/4 for 1/1250 sec. ISO 100. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Carolyn: Wonderful comp and colors and I like the party crasher. This looks a little soft to me but its hard to tell if it is a capture issue or a processing one. Does make me long for warmer temps and longer days. >=))>

Thanks, Bill, for your comments. Yes, I agree the flower center is a tad soft. I was shooting these photos (burst mode) with a pretty stiff breeze blowing so it was just luck if the photo ended up tack sharp! I liked this image but wasn't sure if the soft focus was a strong deterrent or not. Glad for input from you and others on that issue.

Outstanding color and composition. The bee is an added bonus. Nicely done.

Love the composition with the oof flower in the bg, Carolyn, and the capture of the main flower ( and friend ! ) is delightful - somehow the slight softness seems ok with this image, as it has an overall soft feel to it.

Very nice, Carolyn. This looks excellent at this size. Very well composed and the bee is a nice bonus. I do think the softness of the flower becomes an issue with the larger size.

Wow! I think I'll put on my bathing suit and get a tan. I think I'd call this Song of Summer, it's glorious.

I love this image, it radiates heat. Carolyn, every week when I decide which photo to elaborate for posting, it comes to my eyes a similar image: a sunflower with an hornet just in the same place; only closer. You are inviting me to do it.
Take care.
