Shadowplay

“How can I be substantial if I do not cast a shadow? I must have a dark side also if I am to be whole” - C.G. Jung

This curious birch, caged within concrete and black iron, captivated me for several years. It was dead, yet was left standing in its cage, casting the most interesting shadows every bright morning. The brighter the sun, the more spectacular the show played out by its delicate, dead, wooden bones. It somehow still managed to dance, to play within the light for that brief collection of moments each sunny morning. I never tired of my daily visit.

It was finally removed, violently twisted off at the base of trunk, by someone too distracted to see the ghost dance in the morning.

I miss it.

I like this Jim, it reminds me of a 50's era movie, with plenty of drama.

Jim,

A very lovely, simple image. I like the opposing angles of the fence and shadow. Well seen. :toast:
