How's this Pose?

Out this morning to the nature preserve with temps in the 20's and lots of frost. I dressed warmly and openned a package of hand warmers for my mittens and headed out. The morning started slowly but then I started to see a few deer; many off in the distance. So since I knew the place well I planned appropriate routes that I hoped would put me in good positions. I met a runner I know and he said he had seen 39 deer of which 9 were bucks. Sounded good to me. Eventually, I managed to catch up with my quarries and I felt like I had gotten into a private meeting of the big buck club. When I arrived at my final spot there were about 6 bucks around. A few more came in and a few left but these were all big guys, no small ones allowed. Lots of does which I'm sure they approved of. This is the first time that I had the problem of too many deer around and making it difficult to get s clear shot. This is one I did get which I thought showed a nice pose from this guy. Warmed the scene slightly and sharpened for the web. Otherwise as shot. As always, your comments and critiques are welcomed and appreciated.

A classic shot Peter  Good detail and color. Looks like this guy had been through the wars. Also like the way he stands out from the BG. Thanks for sharing.

Nice shot Peter, good detail and separation, I might clone that one white dot out athe bottom of the shot under his head, small nit. :toast:

Hey Peter, these bucks must be getting really used to seeing you around. You had good light here and the image shows great detail and clarity and the DOF is pleasing. Ideally though, he would have been in an 180degree opposite direction as in that case there would not have been a shadow across his face. But obviously that was not within your control.
Just a technical note: I see you were shooting off a tripod, which means you could have dropped your ISO and SS to get even better IQ (although the large version looks clean).

The only thing I can suggest is to play around a little in post processing and see if you can enhance eye detail on the shadow side of the face with selective tweaks of brightness and contrast. I find the marks (scars?) on his nose to be interesting.
