Gallery: LandscapePosted January 7, 2013713 views16 comments
Bettyhill, Sutherland, Scotland

An abstract of surf, sand, and reflections from a post sunset sky (after 10:30PM in Scotland that time of year). Taken on a Transient Light Workshop last June.

Canon 5DM2
Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L at 200mm
ISO100 5sec at f/16

Warm WB to accentuate the orange in the reflection.

Thanks for having a look.

Subtle colors, nice light, and "abstract" quality make this a very strong image.

That's a wee beauty Eva. I remember this very well and love the long lens abstract combined with the movement.

Love the range of luminosity of the light playing and reflecting on the water, Eva, the beautiful warm tones and the touches of cooler tones of the surf. The flow of the gentle curves in your composition gives this a subtle yet wondrous dynamic to my eye.

Very peaceful feel to this photo. The colors are very pleasing. This reminds me that it's not all about the grand wide angle landscapes all the time. It reminds me to try a little telephoto sometimes too.

Great work for me, Eva. The darker area at the left has enough visual weight for me to keep all the elements of your composition together. Your choice of shutter speed conveys motion and tranquility at the same time wonderfully to me.

Eva, I especially like the mood you have in this scene. I also like the light and reflection. Just wishing I was walking along this beach now!

Beautiful and well seen abstract. Since it's a bit surreal, I think a saturation boost might work well.

Eva,

Can't believe I didn't get to this before falling off the front page! yikes. But I just had to let you know how much I love this image. I really enjoy how you've isolated and simplified the light, color and texture of this intimate beach scene. Beautiful, great eye.
