Hi All! It has been quite some time since I posted a picture here so just thought I would do an update. This was my campsite while I was out on Madeline Island in Lake Superior. I had a wonderful time out there and hope to make it back out there this winter. I look a little somber here but I was actually feeling quite good! Maybe I was trying to figure out how I would burn that big log up. I had my point and shoot (G11) setting on my tripod to make this picture.

Hi, Nick. Nice meeting you. You're a great actor as this really looks like you weren't expecting to have your picture taken.

I love the leading diagonal of the bench you are sitting on, the interesting dynamic range from the dappled sunlight coming through the trees, and how the bench in the background with all that crap on it balances your image in the foreground.

After I seen that, I noticed the contrast of the unburnt firewood on the right with the burnt firewood on the left. That was a nice touch as it follows how we in the West read; from left to right. So that aspect was easy to assimilate.

My only nit is that all of the trees in the background appear to be slightly tilted towards the right. This is very very subtle but if you look closly at the support posts on the picnic table you're sitting on, I think you will agree they, too, are leaning every so slightly towards the right.

So my only nit would be to do a 1 degree rotation CCW.

Other than that, this is a kick ass image, especially when one realizes that they do have black bears in the UP.
