Tiny River

This was a landscape about 6 feet long, that I discovered after a rainstorm! As you can see, moving water makes the same land-forms, whether micro or full sized!

As a geologist, I used to go to construction sites after rainstorms and look at the erosion patterns. These were "living flume studies".
This one happened to be on our hotel beach in St. Thomas, while we were on vacation. It rained, and I took this while watching the iguanas.

The dark spots, that look like trees are algae.

Great perspective, Lucy. I wouldn't have know it was a small landscape had you not mentioned it. I like the B&W treatment.

I find these mini landscapes fascinating. Its amazing how these patterns are repeated again and again in different scales.

Lucy,

I too thought this was a much bigger landscape image - pine trees and all. I think the softness of the foreground and the film-grain look to this actually accentuates and helps hide the fact that this is a mini-landscape. Like this one a lot, almost abstract in nature as well.

Love the pattern and the flow to the composition. Remarkable that this is only 6 feet wide in reality. Nicely seen.
