Moon Branches

Haven't been around much (hmmmm, seems like I keep saying that every time I get around to posting...), lots going on, spread to thin, blah, blah, blah.

Here's one from a month or so ago on the shores of Lake Champlain. Had a very successful sunset session and spotted the setting moon on the way back to the car. Like this one better than the sunset.

As is customary this time of year I've got a "best of" series from 2012 on my blog if anyone is interested. Best 20 from 2012

As always thanks for taking a peek and hope everyone has a great 2013!

Luscious color. I like the way the curve of the moon works so well with the curves of the tree.

Kurt,

This is just beautiful! Great catch with the moon, but I think the blue here is just gorgeous. Great tree and comp with the moon. No nits what so ever.

Hey, I started a thread in the NPN Discussion forum called "Your Best/Favorites of 2012." You should go post your link to yours. Great images btw!

Fantastic design in the silhouetted trees and the moon is a real gift. Beautiful blue tones in the sky. Love it. Stunning collection of images in your best-of collection, Kurt.

This reminds me of a stained glass window with blue glass -- very cool. I love the whimsical shapes of the trees, and how they very nicely frame the moon. It's also neat how you can see the entirety of the moon, though it is faint. While using my hands to play with the crop a bit on my monitor, I found another cool composition by eliminating the two trees on the far right, then cropping a hair off the top and bottom. That creates an even stronger diagonal emphasis, but still keeps an odd number of trees. Sweet work!

Great framing of the moon, but I am so much more attracted to these moody blues! Great catch.

Great job positioning the moon in the midst of all those swirling branches. I'm really enjoying the movement contrast between the trees and the quiet clarity of the moon and the evening sky.

Real beauties from 2012, especially Shaken not Stirred. For a silhoutte this one is pretty special. Love the moon of course and the overall blue color. Nice work as always Kurt!

NIcely done! I love that you were able to compose this without the trees and branches being too cluttered. I don't know whether you had to clone some branches out of the opening for the moon but well composed and beautiful.
