Spoony

This roseate spoonbill was coming into land with several other birds already on the water in front of me. This was very first light, thus the slow SS and wide open ap. The BG is mixed clouds (dark and light).

Please view larger version for max details. Thanks.

It appears that your shutterspeed was plenty enough to get a sharp eye! The light under the wings is really nice, and the BG looks fine to me. Good high ISO performance.

Great capture and light. I love that the background is not blown out as is often the case.

Beautiful, Ron. I like the way the wings are so translucent.

Very nice as presented. Placing the spoonbill high in the frame is just right for the dangling feet and lowered head.

Really nice flight pose, Ron. Good details, too. Excellent comp/framing as Rich mentioned. Appears to be a bit of underwing noise in the larger image, but this may be due to shadow/highlight adjustment (I see this in my images occasionally). Nice work.

Bill, no shadow or highlight adjustments made to this image. It was shot at ISO 1000 in low light so there will be some noise, but not anything that degrades the image IMO.

Wow, Ron, what an incredible BIF image. In the large photo, it seems the bird is staring me in the eye. And talk about sharp! It could not be any sharper. You have really got the big lens, hand held thing down! The position also is absolutely stunning. Very different position than normally captured. So I guess what I'm saying is - I love it! :toast:

That is a fabulous flight image, and great quality for a handheld shot.

Another great BIF image, Ron. Perfect vantage point to capture this coming in. SS seems plenty to capture it sharp. Even wide open, you have got the entire spoonbill sharp. I really like the details in the larger version, particularly the translucent spreadout feathers. :toast:
