The Dreamer Within

One final shot I'd like to post for critique from my trip to Glacier in September. I tried to get this shot several mornings, but got skunked by the light all but this morning. The clouds opened up every so briefly and the light hit its peak well after the actual sunrise due to the clouds and haze present, hence the deeper blues than is usual right at sunrise. The foregrond was still fairly dark, and I tried to preserve that in the processing, otherwise it looked a little too HDRish to brighten it much. Blend of three images for water motion and dynamic range in the sky. Nikon D800 around 20mm with the 14-24. Thanks for looking!

I really like this. The comp and light are fantastic. However, the sky color seems to be throwing me off for some reason yet I can't pin point it. I'm sure this is what it looked like, but it could also be the monitor I'm on at the moment.

Beautiful Chris. Fabulous conditions and love the composition! Bushes on the side seem a tad bright but a minor nit. :toast:

Explosive lighting Chris. The balance within the image looks great. The water creates an inverted mountain! I just love when the sky color can tint the surounding ground. I was fortunate enough to have a similar experience while at Glacier a couple years back. Those moments are unforgetable, and you have preserved this one well. Outstanding :toast:

Oh my, Chris. This is spectacular!! Excellent lighting and atmospheric conditions combined with a great composition. I think the symmetrical composition here works really well from the split falls at the bottom of the frame and the way that the composition gradually narrows upstream. It's interesting how this also mirrors the shape of the peak. This is definitely a case where the centered composition works well and is almost essential to the success of the image. Way to break the rules!!

Ok, so I'm looking at this on my "Work" computer and it looks much better here. So ignore what I said about the sky earlier :)

Like the way the water leads right back to that spectacular light on the mountain. Well done.

Very impressive scene though the blue sky on the right and the colour of the clouds on the left seem oddly out of kilter. Everything else looks pretty fine though.
