Don't know if I've posted this one before or not but it's one of my favorites so I thought I'd make it my final post for 2012. My husband has given me the gift of the American Southwest this year....3 months wandering through Arizona, Nevada, and Utah. I'm thinking I'll be pretty busy so may not be posting much for a bit. Have a Great New Year, everyone.

(Lon, in response to your earlier comment on shutter speed. Most of my Headwaters are taken at 1/400 sec. All of them fall between 1/250 and 1/500 secs. Thanks for asking.)

Hi Nancy Lea, another fine look at your neighborhood stream. I like how the swirls, ripples, and brightness create a well defined focal point near the lower left 1/3rd spot. While the colors are not as dramatic as some of your shots, there's an overall warmth and gentleness that speaks to me of a glorious summer day sitting quietly by a babbling stream. Enjoy your tour of the SW, it's a wonderful area.

This is definitely yours, Nancy. I especially enjoy the crispness of the subsurface textures and the fine dynamic balance.

A Happy New Year to you!

Love to see this in print, really nice colors and hi lights. I think I like this the best so far, but I know you have more coming. Beautiful work Nancy, and Happy New Year to you.

I like how the water flow creates a spiral effect down to the center rocks Nancy. Have a Happy New Year!

Combine water, light, and colored, water-rounded pebbles, and, under just the right circumstances, as you have created here; art.

Now this one's scary. Lower center there's an eye staring at me. I can't help but stare back.

Nice. It feels like their might be a camouflaged creature lurking in here. The light and contrast look good here.

Love the shot, Nancy. With your headwater shots, I'm always fooled into thinking there are fish eyes underneath the water. Textures are fantastic. Sounds like an amazing 2013 ahead of you!

Nancy Lea,

What a way to end the year! Another fantastic image! Lot's of imaginative responses so far and I'll add to it. I do see lots of FACES in these little mosaics. The minnow fish eye is obvious, but I see many others - a sleeping baby face, a monkey, a Pound Puppy, an albino camel, and even a big manatee. Lot's of little eyes.... all staring at me. Yikes. Seriously though, truly an amazing find and capture.

I don't suggest this very often with your images, but this one here I'm quite tempted to think about rotating this. I think a vertical and even a 20% crop off the right might make for some interesting alternatives. Also, from a processing standpoint, I think this could use some contrast, just a little to enhance the clarity here. Minor point though.

Wonderful imagery.

Happy New Year and WOW, 3 months wandering the American SW. Does your husband hire out to grant other wishes too? Enjoy your travels!
