Pileated Woodpecker
by Roger Kirchen
Male Pileated Woodpecker (Dryocopus pileatus) photographed on the same day as the Pine Grosbeak earlier in my gallery. This was a cold day for the birds and the photographer: -21 Celsius, and with the windchill more like -28 C.
The photo was taken near feeders in a municipal park. The background is snow.
I have a full body shot that I will post later, but I decided to compose and process this one as portrait.
All comments are much appreciated. Thanks for looking and thanks for all your comments on my other photos. Roger.
