Welcome to the network!
Great job with the whites ::jump: I love the tiny "wink of pink". You might try a much closer crop on both the bottom and on the left ....the black seems to fight for my attention. Took a minute to notice the red. :wavey:

I like the energy in this Holly.

I like the crop suggestion as well. I wonder if a softer flash and a bit more depth of field wold better emphasize the entire flower. I don't think there's enough of the red to carry the image.

I hope to see more of your work.

I agree with Pat & Lucy...I think a crop could help a little although I think that your composition was good. I might like to see a little more DOF ....also I am wondering if this flower seems a little spent?

Holly:
Both Lucy and Pat have given good suggestions. You did not mention whether you used a tripod but I am guessing this is handheld which is not easy at 1/8 sec to get sharp images. The flash looks a little harsh and unflattering on the flower.

Holly: I'm generally not a big fan of flashed flora except when used for fill but this looks pretty good. I do agree about a thighter crop and would like to see just a touch more of that red element to tell what it is. Keep posting. >=))>
