Milky Way Over Chapel

This is Prophet Elias Chapel at St. Anthony's Greek Orthodox Monastery in Florence, AZ. I spent a lot of time photographing the stars over it in the wee hours this past October.

Someone asked me if I photoshopped all those stars in :) I thought it was really dark out there, but after working on this project I discovered the lights from Tucson & the Town of Florence eliminate a lot of stars still.

Very nice Eirini. The sky is wonderful and I really like the light on the Chapel. The Milky Way shows up great...

Wow, really sweet image. I really like your unusual POV.

When I saw this in thumbnail, I had to take a look and I'm glad I did; very intriguing. You don't specify the EXIF data (which would be helpful if you care to provide it), but I'm guessing from the distortion (which in this image gives it a very interesting look in that the vertical point into the center of the image) that you were probably using a pretty wide angle. The fact that there is no discernible motion in the stars suggests a relatively fast shutter, at least for night photography, and so I'm guessing that the ISO is pretty radical (judging from the rather noisy sky... or are those stars? ).

I love night shots, and this is a fine one. The large image is a "must see".
Photoshop would eliminate some of the distortion, if you wished, but I don't find it distracting at all.

Love the curves in the composition Eirini and the mood of the image. Excellent capture and a beautiful image. I wish it were in my portfolio.

Eirini: What a beautiful photograph! Perfect comp for my tastes and I like the effect the distortion produces. Top notch shot. >=))>

Very nice Eirini. I especially like the lighting balance with the chapel glowing gently and the stars showing brightly.
