The Calm..

Work has been crazy here lately, so i planned an overnighter back in the bush. It was so refreshing to breathe it all in again..

I woke up an hour before dawn and hiked another mile upstream from camp to catch this little scene. I tried a couple of different comps, then ended up cropping this into a pano as i feel it puts emphasis on the main subject of the capture.

Thanks for taking a look, and for all of the c/c! Happy Holidays!!

Just lovely
seems to need to come down a little on right side to straighten....but could just be an optical illusion to me.

Very nice! I love the over reaching branches. The softer tones in the water and reflection are well balanced by the heavier, darker fg trunks.

Definitely an interesting composition. The framing with the arching trunk is a nice device. The color of the water is particularly attractive here.

I really like the pano look on this one, Justin. Very good choice for post processing idea. As Lucy mentioned, might have a very slight tip to it, but easily looked at with the grid to know for sure.

Justin,

I like this quite a lot. Agree with Tony's comments, I'm really liking the color of the water and the slight misty atmosphere. Great choice with the pano too. The large version I also detected a very slight rotation, but it's almost not worth mentioning it's hardly noticeable unless it gets pointed out. ;-)

I like this a lot Justin! Very moody scene, this looks very "primordial". That tree is just great and the pano crop works perfectly to portray its dominance on the scene.

Thanks for the comments everyone.

Looking at it, I can see where it may look like there is a slight tilt. I can assure you, this is straight as an arrow. The tilt of the bg trees coupled with the falling bank of the creek is, I think, creating this illusion.

Love the mood and the reflections. The pano crop and the framing work very well.

Great work for me, Justin. The prominent tree makes for an interesting framing and appealing dynamic balance to my eye. Finally, the delicate reflection just makes the difference for me.

I like this Justin. I think your comp works really nice with the tree reaching across the water. The water color and misty feel in the background make for a wonderful mood. Your panoramic format was a great choice here!

Great job of framing! The overhanging tree is a wonderful foil that adds a feeling of intimacy to the depth created by the river and the reflections. The soft lighting really lets the gentle blues and greens sing.

Justin, the concept of this image, the mood of this image, and the composition are every bit of beautiful. It has a dream like state to it. I would have personally used more sharpening for the image. But I like it the way it is as well .
