Grasshopper

Gallery: Macro & Close-upPosted December 16, 2012104 views8 comments
Canon 5D II, 180mm macro + 1,4x, tripod.
f/11, 1/250sec., ISO 800.
Post-production: LR4 and Nik plug-in.

This species of grasshopper (probably a male of Arcyptera fusca) is quite common in the summer in my region. Any comment is welcome.

Excellent profile image of this grasshopper. The subject is well rendered and stands out from the neutral bg. I like the floral perch - go with the green bg and grasshopper and gives this a nice pop of color. Personally, I would like to see a little less bg. I don't know if this is cropped. If not, I could see cropping a little off the sides and a bit more from the top.

Really nice, clean look at the grasshopper. I agree with Scott about wanting the grasshopper and flower to occupy more of the frame.

Beautiful image Roberto of the grasshopper, and love the detail too. Like the other would like to reduce the background on the top and side. Nice one

Thanks for helpful suggestions. The picture is not cropped, and I can easily put into practice your advice.

I like the crisp view of this critter against such a smooth background. I do agree with the above cropping suggestions however. It would be nice to see how you adjust it if you decide to ad your edited version to this post!

Excellent image of this grashopper on its flower. Love the contrast in color and texture. The grashopper looks almost "metallic" to my eyes, whereas the flower has soft colors and texture. I agree with the comments about crop.

Excellent quality image Roberto, your techs look very good.
Since this is full frame, I would re-compose as the others have suggested.
Well done & have a great weekend :wavey:
