I knew this would happen. I'm just going to reply with this to every image that does not meet up with my expectation of Sandy Richards' original intent. This one most definitely included....

Weekly Challenge #565 (12/16/12 - 01/05/13) Red & Green - Submitted by Sandy Richards. Photos that are composed almost entirely of these colors.

Nice photo, but doesn't meet my definition of "almost entirely".

This is going to be a long week, I think. :frown:

We certainly know what "entirely" means. But what "almost" means requires further definition, I think.

This image is clearly NOT "almost entirely" red and green.

Again, I have been informed via e-mail that my respnse above was inappropriate. I accept that and will try to do a better job in the future. To anyone who may have been made uncomfortable by what I wrote, please accept my apology.

I like this theme, however, and I have another image I think I'll post here tomorrow after 24 hours has elapsed. It does have a lot of black in it, but it's good to know that folks here are tolerant of that kind of deviation. :)

JOHN - I'm the one who suggested this theme, and I think Caroline and I should be the ones to define my "intent."
I'm sorry the excellent images posted already don't meet your "expectations" - but they meet mine,

Loosen up! This is a congenial, close-knit family of serious photographers sharing their art.
As artists, we each define meanings and intents for ourselves. We are not full of strict RULES here -

Have FUN, share images, make kind suggestions to others, and improve your own photography - that is what we are all after.

Very nice setup! I like how you arranged the different colors of leaves. I like the monochrome tree color. Good thinking .

Raied - not "arranged" at all, except by Nature.
Thanks for the kind comment!

A good choice for the season (which must be the inspiration for the challenge!).

Beautiful small landscape scene, Sandy! Very nice even distribution of the reds and greens throughout the image; the alternating fronts and backs of the red leaves also add a variety of red shadings. The tree trunk certainly provides a focal point for this image although I may have preferred it to be less dominating. Works well for the theme and it certainly does look like a Christmas carpet.

Well seen and well executed. This is so festive.

I see both red and green on the tree trunk. There must be something wrong with my monitor. It repeatedly surprises me how often Carolyn and I see things in a similar way. I was thinking "that tree seems too heavy, too dark, and too centered." But beyond that, this one really tickles my color sense. Good job.

Bob, you're not wrong - there is green moss on the trunk, and reds reflected from the leaves.
