North Shore Waves 2
by Nick Bristol
This is another Sept image I made on the north shore of Lake Superior. I really enjoyed watching the waves come rolling in and then crashing on to the rugged shoreline on this early September morning. The stormy sky and all the mists in the air just added to the mood for me. It also made it hard to keep the lens clear from water drops. Thanks for looking...and thanks much for your comments on my last post!

Fantastic capture of the waves and more importantly how the mood, drama and violence of the lake is captured. The swells look big enough to make me wonder how close you were able to get just to capture this - no doubt the long end of your focal length!
No nits or suggestions. This is awesome.

Lon, This is at 105mm from my 24-105 on a full frame and I was getting a little wet!
Eva, Yes, I have shot pictures of the lake in November, but not for awhile now. I will have to go back and see if I find one to post. The lake is 350 miles across and 160 miles wide. Waves (especially in November) can reach as high 30ft and maybe more. It could cover all of north and south America with 1 ft of water. The average depth is around 480 ft and max around 1300 ft or a little more. Just a little info on my favorite "Big Lake" ...
