Paint Mines 2
by Russell Colletta
This was taken from a slightly (and I mean very slightly) different spot than my first post in what has become a series. I knew the Paint Mines park has a lot of magenta rock and on my way out there I envisioned the sky exploding in clouds to match. But the sky was golden not pink. That was the first post. This was about as pink as it got. I like this image because of the color, lines, and overlapping layers, but also because of its ambiguous sense of scale. The main subject is actually relatively small, but could be an entire mountain. Fascinating place.

A beautiful image and scene that stands nicely on it's own, but I think is a bit less compelling than your previous version. Interesting though, the sky appears level in this one.
The color is almost understated, but all looks good and natural. Interesting that you mention scale too - there is no scale! I had imagined the purple "mountain" to be bigger than you're describing. Regardless, still makes for an interesting and colorful landscape.
