Dancing In Light

Thank you for your comments on my last photo. Its still on the front page if anyone has not seen it.

Just after the previous photo I decided to wander into that grove of Aspens. I did not have to wander far before I came upon this scene. It stopped me in my path. I have always loved forest scenes taken from within the forest. They are hard to pull of due to all the confusion going on. I tried a similar scene years ago on the East side but the boles were too dense and chaotic to make sense.

However this one I feel worked out wonderfully. As I stood there waiting for the leaves to settle down in between the breezes, I had a sense as if these trees were just dancing in the light.

My only concern is the ground in this photo. Does it appear to be to high in contrast?

4x5, Nikkor 150mm, f32, 1/8 sec, Fuji Provia 100F, Developed in CS5 using TK luminosity masks and Triple Play actions.

Your feed back much appreciated. Large version include for your enjoyment.

Real nice scene, Youssef. I am not finding the ground too high contrast. I might consider a crop of the cutoff tree on the left as an alternative presentation. Great golden colors and capture of the feel of autumn.

Very nice order in the midst of chaos. The backlighting really "highlights" the color and light that make this shot. Very well done!

Aspens can be very tough to shoot, but I think you have done well to make sense of all the detail, especially in this slightly harsher light. The forest floor is just as colorful as the rest of the scene, and the dark, rich earth underneath has really made each leaf stand out. What I am really liking are the shadows of the aspens on the ground. Great capture. Although I'd agree with the crop suggestion, this image captures the feeling you must have had when making the exposure. Oh, the large version was incredibly enjoyable... Mission complete!

The light makes this image for me. The direction of the light adds depth and contrast. The bit of blue sky also adds variety to the image.

Youssef,

I'm loving this one! While this doesn't have the internal "glow" as your previous post, I love the inclusion of the blue sky for some color contrast here. And I don't think the forest floor has too much contrast either. This is wonderful! And the processing looks spot on to me.

I think Anil would like to steal this for his "Interiors" series. ;-)

Great work Youssef.

Youssef, Yes, these within the forest scenes are hard to make work but you did it here! Your large version is especially nice to see and quite enjoyable! The colors are wonderful and the forest floor looks good to me, and I like the shadows. The blue sky looks great against the golden leaves. This is very nice!

Ground looks fine to me, Youssef. No worries that I can see at least. The light is everything in this image. The golden light has things really popping, especially from Provia too.

I prefer the more lively light and color in this version Youssef. The contrast looks just right on my monitor.

The touch of blue is really nice and I feel like I can walk right into the large version. Contrast looks good considering the light, which you handled well. Very nice image Youssef.

I think this is gorgeous - the touches of blue add so much to the scene.

This has a glow about it that really registers with me. This is the kind of day I love being in the woods. For that matter, i love being in the woods on EVERY kind of day!

I think it works very well, the color contrast is a big plus and the ground fits well into the scene...
Beautiful image.

Another stunning image of this forest, Youssef. The touch of blue really adds another dimension to the golds. I might consider cropping the left hand side slightly to eliminate the partial trees. No problem with the contrast to my eye. Really like how the eye moves so naturally back into the forest, as though you were actually there.
